Childhood

The preamble to the Charter of Educating Cities states that guaranteeing the rights of children, adolescents and youth in the city consists, first and foremost, of fully ensuring their status as protagonists of their lives and the development of their civil and political rights. In this sense, principle 8 recognizes that children, adolescents and youth are citizens of the present, with the right to participate in the management and improvement of community life.
The following are experiences aimed at guaranteeing children’s rights, recognizing them as active subjects with the capacity to express opinions and influence decisions that affect them. This involves designing projects that incorporate their perspective into urban, educational and social planning, and ensuring that the city’s spaces and services respond to their physical, emotional and relational needs.
