General objective
To promote, within the scope of the Portuguese Territorial Network of Educating Cities, a collective and systematic work of research, reflection, debate and knowledge production on Lifelong Learning, with emphasis on its multiple dimensions, public policies, structuring concepts and associated categories. To stimulate the dissemination of good practices and foster the construction of a solid culture of Lifelong Learning, which ensures human, social and economic development, through inclusive, innovative and sustainable approaches, recognizing education as a fundamental right and an essential pillar for social cohesion, collective well-being and the progress of communities.
Specific objectives
- Promoting Inclusive and Equitable Access to Lifelong Learning: Fostering universal and equitable access to learning in diverse contexts (formal, non-formal, and informal), ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their gender, sexuality, age, ethnicity, language, culture, social class, disability, or any other characteristic that could lead to discrimination, can fully participate in the lifelong learning process.
- Supporting Educational Innovation and Valuing Lifelong Learning: Contributing to the implementation of innovative and technologically adapted pedagogical practices to meet the demands of a constantly transforming society, promoting the recognition of skills and knowledge acquired throughout life.
- Strengthening Collaboration Networks and Disseminating Best Practices: Contributing to the strengthening of strategic partnerships between municipalities, educational institutions, communities, and other stakeholders, creating collaborative spaces conducive to the sharing of best practices, resources, and pedagogical innovations.
- Holding Meetings, Producing Documents, and Promoting Research: Organize an annual thematic Meeting or Forum, as well as other sessions or working groups, on Lifelong Learning, bringing together experts, academics, policymakers, and civil society for debate, sharing best practices, and disseminating inspiring experiences.
