First meeting of the RTPCE Coordination Commission after the local elections in Portugal

Coordination Commission of the Portuguese Network meets in Lisbon

On 30 January, the first meeting of the Coordination Commission of the Portuguese Territorial Network of Educating Cities (RTPCE) was held in Lisbon following the recent municipal elections. The meeting, chaired by the Lisbon City Councillor, Mr Rodrigo Gonçalvez, brought together representatives from Lagoa, Lisbon, Porto, Santo Tirso, Torres Vedras and Valongo. The municipality of Soure participated virtually due to the severe damage caused by the latest storm, which left the town without basic services. The IAEC Secretary General, Ms Marina Canals, also travelled to Lisbon to meet the new authorities and accompany the Commission’s work.

During the session, key issues related to internal organisation were addressed. Lisbon presented the 2025 activity report, and the Action Plan for 2026 was agreed upon, along with the themes and schedule for the network’s bulletin.

The Secretary General shared the main updates from IAEC, as well as relevant information from the latest meeting of the Executive Committee. One of the central items on the agenda was the preparation of the Portuguese participation in the 18th IAEC International Congress, which will take place in Granollers from 26 to 29 May.

The meeting concluded with the definition of the date and venue for the next National Meeting of the RTPCE, reaffirming the network’s commitment to the exchange of good practices and the construction of more inclusive, participatory and educating cities. The next meeting of the Commission will be held in Porto.
