On 26 March, IAEC held its Ordinary General Assembly, which brought together nearly 140 representatives from member cities in a virtual format.
The Assembly opened with a lecture by Dr. Karina Gibert, Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, titled “Education 5.0: The Disruptive Transformation of AI”, which will soon be available on our YouTube channel.
Among the key ideas highlighted in her presentation were:
During the second part of the Assembly, the incorporation of new member cities was approved: Despeñaderos, Gualeguaychú, San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, Benevides, Jaguari, Santa Maria, Zamora, Camas, Lalín, Trofa and Seoul, to whom we extend a warm welcome. Voluntary withdrawals and removals due to non-compliance with the statutes were also reported, following a prior support process carried out by the Secretariat and the territorial networks.
Additionally, the Assembly voted on several items, including the 2025 Activity and Financial Reports, the slogan for the 2026 International Day of the Educating City (“Educating Cities: cultivating critical thinking, democratic values and the fight against disinformation”), and the 2027 budget.
Granollers presented the progress made in the organisation of the XVIII International Congress, which will take place from 26 to 29 May, where the Executive Committee will be renewed.
