Brazil Participates in the 18th International Congress of Educating Cities

From May 26 to 29, the city of Granollers, Spain, hosted the 18th International Congress of Educating Cities under the theme “Education and Culture in the City: Community, Critical Thinking, and Creativity.” Over the course of four days, internationally renowned figures, public officials, experts, and social organizations exchanged experiences and discussed the role of cities as spaces capable of strengthening social cohesion, expanding citizen participation, and promoting more inclusive communities.

Latin American participation carried significant weight, with innovative initiatives presented by municipalities in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Uruguay. On that occasion, projects from São Paulo (“Guardiãs da Alimentação” and “Busca Ativa Escolar”) and Passo Fundo (“Escola das Profissões”) were also recognized at the 2026 Educating Cities Award.

The full report is now available for review and underscores the region’s growing leadership role in building cities that are more democratic, creative, and committed to lifelong learning.
