The city of Vila Real is located in the north of Portugal and occupies a surface area of 377 km2. It has approximately 50,000 inhabitants and a population density of 130 inhab./km2.
The city’s main economic activity has traditionally been agriculture. Despite, the weight of agriculture has diminshed in the last few years, it is still a major source of income, especially its vineyards.
