Peniche

Peniche is a Portuguese city located in the Centro region. It belongs to the historic province of Estremadura. The municipality has an area of 77.41 km². Geographically it is situated on the Peniche Peninsula, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, being the westernmost town in Continental Europe. From the 70s of the 20th century, the city started to attract surfers, due to the quality of its waves. It is currently part of all important surf events.
