The Association of Businesspeople for Social Inclusion decided to intervene in the sphere of education in order to fight against school leaving and failure by creating a network of training mediators, and with the collaboration of the City Council of Paredes.

The Paredes City Council, through initiatives such as the Health Fair and the NUC’EDUC project, promotes healthy habits and physical exercise, especially among children and older people, to combat obesity.

The Paredes Culture House promotes cultural dissemination through free family programs, promoting a taste for theater, music and dance for children, improving the quality of life and citizen participation.

The main industry of Paredes is the manufacturing of furniture. In order to offer aid and employment opportunities to the population of East Timor –which has raw material to dedicate to this production-, the City Council of Paredes is driving this collaboration initiative.

The twinning between Paredes and Montereau-Fault-Yonne promotes cultural exchange and collaboration, strengthening ties between citizens and promoting language learning and ties of friendship between Portuguese and French young people.

The municipality of Paredes promotes the “PT Paredes con Teatro” program to revitalize amateur theater, involving young professionals and promoting culture among all ages and local neighborhoods.

Paredes is a city that has 1,260 furniture factories. Aware as it is of this fact, the City Council looked for a solution in order to recycle the wood left over of the factories, transforming it into briquettes, which are used as fuel in schools and other public establishments.
