Machico
Machico is a small town located on the east coast of the island of Madeira. It has a rich monumental heritage as a result of its history. There are emblematic buildings such as the Mother Church, from the 15th century; the Casa da Capela or Solar da Ermida; the Fountain of Són Roque or the Fort of Nossa Senhora do Amparo and that of Són João Baptista, from the 17th century. It also has a Whale Museum. It is worth mentioning its beaches and the routes and paths that run through its exuberant natural environment, as well as its levadas or fresh water canals with a depth of 50 cm, which were intended to supply water to the southern region of Madeira, more drier than the northern region.
