The City of Barcelona Educational Project (PECB) promotes citizen participation and co-responsibility in education. Since 1999, it has coordinated strategic educational actions with the collaboration of various social agents and citizen entities.

In the path to sustainability it has been sought the maximum involvement of citizen groups, in order to work in all areas of urban reality. Barcelona Agenda 21 is the Agenda 21 of the whole city.

Since 2000, the IMEB, through the Artur Martorell library, has implemented a plan to improve Barcelona’s school libraries, providing them with resources, technology and support to improve teaching.

The “Music for babies and little ones” program promotes interaction between children and parents through music, adapted to sensory, motor and cognitive development, in courses differentiated by age.

The CREART program combines contemporary art with early childhood education, facilitating the direct interaction of children with artists to promote creativity and understanding of art through varied techniques.

The main aim of the information and awareness-raising energy campaign for senior citizens’ sheltered housing is to make the residents aware of how to use energy responsibly, and to give them information about the quality and features of the accommodation and the domestic appliances.

Network of Prevention and community action aimed at improving the wellbeing and the feeling of security of the elderly, reducing their loneliness, risk of isolation and social exclusion through the respectful care of the people around them.

The Pedagogical Coordination Council of Barcelona optimizes the city as an educational agent, offering activities that complement school and family learning. Since 1988, it has facilitated educational experiences through the School Activities Program.
