More than 140 municipalities joined the International Day of the Educating City

On November 30, we celebrated the 2025 edition under the theme: “Children’s Participation in the Educating City.”

The 2025 International Day of the Educating City highlighted the active role of children as an essential part of citizenship. Boys and girls have the right to be heard and to take part in decisions that affect their environment. In an Educating City, children are not only recipients of services but also key actors in building a fairer, more inclusive, and more supportive community.

Many municipalities have already implemented educational initiatives and mechanisms for children’s participation, such as children’s councils, children’s parliaments, or participatory budgeting processes, whether through schools, community organizations, or local governments.

We invite you to relive the celebrations around the world, with the participation of more than 140 Educating Cities from 11 countries, through the summary video on our YouTube channel!
