This initiative seeks to preserve a sense of belonging to the city by its citizens (demonym: paisas) who live abroad, making them “goodwill ambassadors” and encouraging their active participation through volunteering.

The sports and recreation sector in Latin America needs public policies based on research and technology to address urban problems. The Sport and Recreation Observatory evaluates public policies and promotes civic values and culture.

“Medellín, the most educated” (2004-2007) promotes education beyond schools, promoting social cohesion, citizen participation and coexistence. Promotes educational, cultural projects and participation in public spaces.

“Let your grey hair down!” promotes the integration of older people in Colombia into active life through physical and recreational activities, combating abuse and abandonment, and promoting healthy and community aging.

“Sport No Limit” facilitates sports and recreational activities for people with disabilities in Medellín, promoting their right to sports and a healthy lifestyle, reducing sedentary lifestyle and cardiovascular risks.

“As We Go Home” is a Medellín program that offers sports activities to people in vulnerable situations, promoting their health, coexistence and values ​​to facilitate their social insertion.

In Medellín, walks and races, such as the Half Marathon, are promoted to preserve traditions, promote health, respect for nature and recover public spaces, taking advantage of their natural environment.

The Medellín Metro promotes social responsibility through citizen participation and educational and cultural actions, strengthening the relationship with the community and optimizing spaces for community use.
