{"id":11759,"date":"2020-08-28T08:02:28","date_gmt":"2020-08-28T06:02:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edcities.whads.com\/news\/guangzhou-award-call-for-submissions-now-open\/"},"modified":"2026-05-03T06:00:49","modified_gmt":"2026-05-03T04:00:49","slug":"guangzhou-award-call-for-submissions-now-open","status":"publish","type":"edc_news","link":"https:\/\/edcities.whads.com\/en\/news\/guangzhou-award-call-for-submissions-now-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Guangzhou Award: call for submissions now open!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Guangzhou Award focuses on <strong>innovative approaches<\/strong> taken by local and regional governments to <strong>accomplish the SDGs<\/strong> and meet the commitments of the New Urban Agenda towards the prosperity and quality of life of their citizens.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The award\u00a0is <strong>open to all local governments worldwide <\/strong>and is\u00a0co-sponsored by United Cities and Local Governments (<strong>UCLG<\/strong>), World Association of the Major Metropolises (<strong>Metropolis<\/strong>), and City of <strong>Guangzhou<\/strong>, and supported by ICLEI and C40.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Main features of the award:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Up to\u00a0<strong>15 shortlisted cities and up to 30 deserving cities<\/strong>\u00a0will be discerned and selected by the Technical Committee. All 45 cities will be featured in specialized publications and many will be invited to share their experiences in international events.<\/li>\n<li>Up to\u00a0<strong>5 winners<\/strong>\u00a0among the shortlisted cities will be selected by the Jury and each will be\u00a0<strong>granted US$ 20,000<\/strong>, a\u00a0<strong>trophy\u00a0<\/strong>and a\u00a0<strong>commemorative certificate<\/strong>; shortlisted cities other than the winners will be granted\u00a0<strong>Medals of Honour<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The shortlisted city that obtains the most votes in the \u201cOnline Vote: The City of Your Choice\u201d will be recognized as the \u201c<strong>Online Popular City<\/strong>\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>2 representatives of each of the<strong> 15 shortlisted cities will be invited to\u00a0share lessons learned<\/strong> at the International Seminar on Learning from Urban Innovation.
