In 2010, the local Government of Saha-gu, in collaboration with urban planners, artists and the residents, had the idea of regenerating the Gamcheon Village, a poor marginalized area, opting for a sustainable development that would respect its unique character and artistic value.<\/p>
After an urban renewal process of the houses and the neighbourhood\u2019s infrastructure and the installation of more of 40 works of art, the Gamcheon village has transformed into a cultural, dynamic village full of life, which is visited by more than 1 million people each year.<\/p>
The IAEC Delegated Chairman had the opportunity to visit this neighbourhood, which received the Educating Cities award on best practices on better living together for its process of urban and social regeneration.
