{"id":10950,"date":"2014-09-25T12:03:36","date_gmt":"2014-09-25T10:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edcities.whads.com\/news\/there-are-only-week-left-before-the-13th-international-congress-of-educating-cities-takes-place\/"},"modified":"2026-05-03T10:52:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-03T08:52:17","slug":"there-are-only-week-left-before-the-13th-international-congress-of-educating-cities-takes-place","status":"publish","type":"edc_news","link":"https:\/\/edcities.whads.com\/en\/news\/there-are-only-week-left-before-the-13th-international-congress-of-educating-cities-takes-place\/","title":{"rendered":"Less than a week left to the 13th International Congress of Educating Cities takes place"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through lectures, presentations of experiences, Mayors\u2019 and experts\u2019 roundtables, and study tours, the Congress will deal with the role of education, in the broadest sense of the term, as an essential instrument for social inclusion, fostering personal and collective development and the improvement of social coexistence and solidarity.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local governments and different social agents and entities in our cities are faced with the major challenge of working towards social inclusion from a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">comprehensive perspective<\/span> in order to confront social and economic inequality and the inequality of opportunities affecting different sectors of the population. These inequalities run the risk deepening the rift given the rapid pace of change that we are now living through if a decisive effort is not made to stop them.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together we can find solutions to these challenges of social inclusion that our cities are facing!<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, as part of the Congress, we will be celebrating the 20<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the IAEC; a meeting of the General Assembly of the Association will also be held during which the 2015-2018 Strategic Action Plan will be adopted.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attached below please find the informational brochure and the Congress provisional programme timetable for the 13<sup>th<\/sup> Congress.
